ECP reviews arrangements for bye-polls in tribal districts

CEC refuses to take oath from the newly appointed ECP members

PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed arrangements for holding bye-elections in tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on July 20.
Chief election commissioner Justice (Retd) Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan chaired a meeting of the ECP on Tuesday, which reviewed the arrangements for the bye-elections in tribal districts.
The meeting decided that the army would be deployed inside very sensitive polling stations in the tribal districts. He said that the CCTV cameras would also be installed in sensitive polling stations.
The chief election commissioner said that on the directives of the ECP, the district administrations have lifted the Section 144 in tribal districts, as such step was creating hurdles in campaigning by the candidates.
He also directed the provincial government not to release development funds for the tribal districts. He ordered the government officials to implement the code of conduct for the elections.
