ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday decided to conduct the upcoming general elections under the supervision of Pakistan Army.
According to sources, the Commission has sent a summary to Ministry of Defense seeking deployment of 350,000 Pakistan Army personnel in the elections.
The sources while quoting the Commission added that the personnel would be deployed for sustaining law and order in the elections.
Few days back, it was decided in a meeting of the Commission presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan that personnel of Pakistan Army would be deployed in and outside polling stations in the general elections.
The meeting also decided that printing of ballot papers and its delivery would be carried out under the supervision of Pakistan Army.
