Petition filed for removal of KP governor

PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali has confirmed that he has received letter from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for announcing date for elections of the provincial assembly.
Talking to newsmen on Saturday, the governor said that he would respond to the Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday. He said that the sealed letter has been received by his secretary, which he would open on Monday and respond to the Election Commission. He said that he wanted to announce consensus date along with Punjab. However, he regretted, the president announced the election date for Punjab unilaterally. Consensus date would have given a positive message to the nation, he said.
The governor said that he would respond to the ECP’s letter as per the orders of the Supreme Court. He said that the Election Commission was responsible for holding elections.
