ISLAMABAD: The federal government has imposed an additional surcharge of Rs. 3.39 per unit on electricity consumers. The Power Division has also issued a notification regarding the additional surcharge. According to the notification, this surcharge will be collected from consumers during March to June 2023 and the total surcharge will increase to Rs. 3.82 per unit.
Currently, electricity consumers are already paying a surcharge of 43 paisa per unit. According to the notification, the surcharge will also apply to electric consumers. By June 2023, electricity consumers will be charged approximately Rs. 76 billion extra.
