ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has challenged the rejection of his nomination papers by returning officer for NA-53 constituency Islamabad.
The former premier filed an appeal in the election tribunal and pleaded for the dismissal of the returning officer’s decision.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in his appeal argued that he did not conceal anything in his nomination papers on purpose adding that he would rectify the mistakes if any.
Nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mehtab Abbasi and disgruntled leader of PTI Ayesha Gulalai were also rejected by the same returning officer for NA-53.
