ISLAMABAD: The government on Tuesday submitted to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) the report of Raja Zafarul Haq committee, formed to probe changes in the Finality of Prophethood oath in the Constitution.
During today’s hearing of the Faizabad sit-in case, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui expressed displeasure at the government’s failure to submit the report of the committee, headed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq.
The court then adjourned hearing of the case until 1pm and warned the government officials to submit the report.
The court also warned that the prime minister would be summoned in person and contempt notices issued to the relevant ministers and secretaries.
The court also ruled that hearing of the case would now be conducted on daily basis.
The committee was formed to reveal those responsible for the changes in the oath regarding the Finality of Prophethood when the Elections Act 2017 was passed last year.
The amendment in the oath sparked protest of religious parties at Faizabad Interchange, the junction between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, bringing routine life to a standstill for quite some time.
