LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa has announced that courts are being established with regard to gender discrimination.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of a workshop at Punjab Judicial Academy on Saturday, he said that the false testimony is the biggest hurdle in dispensation of justice. “There is also a need for reforms in the police,” he added. “I am heading the Police Reforms Committee which consists of nine DIGs.”
The chief justice said that they are introducing an application for getting information about the laws of other countries with regard to some cases. “We are taking revolutionary steps to modernize the old system,” he added.
He said that reforms are vital to control the incidents of violence. “We are also devising a strategy to reduce the burden on courts.”
Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa was of the view that the objective of special courts for the cases of women and children is to defend them. “Each person is equal before the law.”
He said that judicial academies exist in each province. “Previously only judges were trained in the academies. Now prosecutors, investigators and lawyers are being trained here,” he added.
Justice Mansoor Ali Khan of the Supreme Court, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Sardar Shamim Ahmed and secretaries of bar association also participated in the ceremony.
On July 22, Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa had called for launching a movement to restore the respect of lawyers.
Addressing a ceremony at Judicial Academy, he said that lawyers’ respect is declining with each passing day. “Here lawyers throw chairs at judges. Layers should use the arguments instead of their hands. Will it be right if the lawyer and the judge beat each other? Where are we heading to? We should eliminate it immediately.” he pointed out.
The CJP said that the lawyers could not get the support of good words without their love for the literature. “A good lawyer should have full command of the history, mathematics and the literature,” he said.
He said that sometime judges are asking the lawyers that the case cannot be instituted. “The judge should write the judgment after listening to arguments.”
Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa said that lawyers could win the case only on the basis of arguments.
