Fata merger into KP without people’s consent unacceptable: Fazl

Fazl-ur-Rehman rejects election results, to convene APC

PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that his he will not accept integration of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa without recommendation of tribal elders.
Addressing a tribal jirga in Peshawar, Fazl said that Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) should be abolished so that tribal people could get justice. He, however, said that referendum should be conducted in order to introduce reforms according to wishes of the tribal elders.
Calling for early introduction of reforms, Fazlur Rehman asked the government to hold referendum and take decision with consideration of the tribal elders. Chief of JUI-F rhetorically asked why the government was not opting for referendum if the people are endorsing annexation.
The JUI-F chief said nationwide strike will be observed on 23th of this month against the massacre of Muslims in Myanmar and problems being faced by civilian population in Aleppo, Syria.
