First Chinese trade convoy reaches Gwadar; port opening tomorrow

GWADAR: The first trade caravan carrying Chinese goods reached Gwadar on Saturday through the western-route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The caravan, which comprised of over 50 trucks traveled through Khunjerab amid strict security by the Pakistan Army. The convoy left China on 31 October and reached Gwadar in 11 days which otherwise would have taken 45 days.
A cargo ship has anchored at the port and another one is expected to reach today. The goods will be exported to countries in the Middle East and Africa through Gwadar.
A grand ceremony marking the opening of trade activities through the corridor will be held on Sunday, which will attended by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri and ambassadors of 15 countries.
