ISLAMABAD: At least five persons were killed and 13 others injured when a trailer loaded with construction material, crushed five vehicles under it near Sangjani toll plaza in Rawalpindi here Thursday night.
According to police sources, the horrible accident occurred when the trailer driver lost control reportedly due to a brake failure and ran over five cars crushing the hapless passengers under its weight.
The number of deaths were feared to rise as the rescue operation continued to drag out bodies from the mangled vehicles.
The rescuers shifted the injured to the nearby hospitals.
