Foreign funding case: ECP adjourns hearing against PTI until Feb 7

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has adjourned hearing of foreign funding case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) until February 7.
A five-member bench of the ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice retd Sardar Raza Khan heard the case.
During today’s hearing, PTI finance secretary Azhar Tariq Khan categorically rejected the petitioner’s allegations.
He informed the Commission that the Babar was not even aware of the documents he had submitted to the Commission.
Meanwhile, Babar requested the commission again to grant him permission to submit additional documents regarding the case.
The ECP denied the request, and said Akbar should have provided all documents as part of his first request.
Babar filed a petition in the ECP in 2014 seeking the disqualification of PTI Chairman Imran Khan for allegedly obtaining funding from illegal sources and discrepancies in the party’s accounts.
