At least 10 Afghan policemen killed in Taliban attack

GHAZNI CITY: Four Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel have been killed and five others wounded in a clash with Taliban insurgents in Jaghato district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Sunday.
Mohammad Arif Noori, the governor’s spokesman, told an Afghan news agency that militants staged coordinated attacks on six security check-posts in the district late on Saturday night.
Four ALP men were killed and five others sustained injuries, he said, claiming seven insurgents were also killed and five wounded in the ensuing firefight.
The coordinated assault was repulsed and the situation was currently under control, Noori added.
Mohammad Hassan, a resident, confirmed the overnight clash and said both the sides used heavy and light weapons.
Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban’s spokesman, wrote on his twitter account that five security forces had been killed over the past 24 hours in different areas of Ghazni province.– Agencies
