Four die and Eight injured in Waziristan landmine blasts

MIRANSHAH: Four persons lost their lives and eight others sustained injuries in two separate landmine blasts in North and South Waziristan tribal districts on Tuesday.

The first blast occurred in Birmal area of South Waziristan near the Pak-Afghan border in which four persons, including two children, were killed and six others were injured.

Sources said the deceased belonged to Gangikhel sub-tribe of Wazir tribe. They were going to an orchard of chilgoza (pine nuts) when their vehicle hit a landmine. The injured persons were immediately shifted to a hospital in Dera Ismail Khan.

The second landmine blast happened in Dangin area of North Waziristan in which two security personnel were injured. The injured security men were identified as Zahid and Hidayat. The injured soldiers were immediately taken to hospital.

The security forces cordoned off the entire area after the blast and launched a search operation. However, no arrest was made during the search operation.
