Four students arrested for chanting ‘Go Nawaz Go’ in Lahore


LAHORE: Four students were arrested from Railway Ground on Saturday, for chanting ‘Go Nawaz Go’ after federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique had spoken at an event.
According to details, after Khawaja Saad Rafique had spoken at the event and left Railway Ground, police arrested four students who were allegedly chanting ‘Go Nawaz Go’ slogans.
The students were thrown into the back of a police mobile van and taken away to an undisclosed location.
Later, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took notice of the arrest of students and players and ordered their immediate release.
According to sources, all four students were released after the Prime Minister’s notice.
Earlier, DG Pakistan Railway defended the police action against students, saying that they chanted political slogans in a non-political event.
He said that show-cause notice would be served to students involved in the incident.
On the other hand, Railways spokesman said that PTI should refrain from politicizing non-political events.
He said that Khawaja Saad Rafique had also refused to answer an question on political issues.
