Govt announces 8th interim Wage Board Award

ISLAMABAD: The PTI government Wednesday announced 8th interim wage board award to address media persons’ difficulties.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, while addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday.
She said 325 percent increase equal to 8,500 rupees has been proposed for special grade, 306 percent equal to 6500 rupees for Grade 1-4, and 355 percent equal to 5,000 rupees for grade 5-8.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said it is a step forward for permanent award. She said the interim award is being announced after having consensus of all the stakeholders.
The Special Assistant said Prime Minister Imran Khan is committed to provide workers their due right. He said the government has fixed minimum wage as 17,500 rupees, which shows prime minister’s determination in this regard.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the government is also going to announce a media and advertising policy on 14th of August in consultation with all the stakeholders.
She said that the “opposition cannot force [Prime Minister} Imran Khan to back away from his mission”. She warned that those making empty threats could not do anything about the budget.
“Turning away from the budget is equivalent to staying aloof from the people,” she said.
On being positive and working in the interest of the Pakistani people, the special assistant said the Opposition should suggest any amendments through “constitutional, parliamentary, and democratic manner, and not via thuggery.
“The Opposition is invited to present amendments for the benefit of the people and we will get them passed,” Dr Awan added.
