Govt likely to boycott SC’s three-member bench proceedings

LAHORE: All of the parties of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) have decided to boycott the three-member bench of the Supreme Court and have stated that not accepting the demand of the full court is against the demands of justice.
An important meeting of the leaders of the allied parties was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore, in which PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif also participated via video link.
According to party sources, Co-Chairman of the People’s Party and former President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman of the PPP and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, JUI- chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Maryam Nawaz and MQM’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, also participated in the meeting via video link.
Other leaders, including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Federal Law Minister Senator Farooq Naek, Ataullah Tarar, Malik Ahmed Khan, and Attorney General, also participated in the important meeting.
In addition to discussing the country’s current political and constitutional situation, the meeting also discussed the situation arising in the Supreme Court and the upcoming elections in the two provinces.
Sources said that Nawaz Sharif suggested that the government should boycott the three-member bench of the Supreme Court .
