Govt, opposition agree on Raja Sultan Sikandar for CEC slot

ISLAMABAD: The issue regarding the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) resolved as the government and opposition have agreed on the name of (rtd) bureaucrat Raja Sultan Sikandar for CEC slot.
According to media reports, the government and opposition agreed to appoint the Raja Sultan Sikandar as next CEC. The opposition accepted the government’s name for the CEC. The government agreed on the names of the opposition for the provincial ECP members.
The reports also said that they agreed on the name of Nisar Durrani for the ECP member from Sindh and Shah Muhammad Jatoi for Balochistan.
It is noteworthy that Sultan Sikandar is son-in-law of Saeed Mehdi and the former principal secretary of Nawaz Sharif.
Meanwhile, a parliamentary committee will announce the name of the CEC and two other names of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) at 12pm. The two names of ECP members selected from the opposition while the CEC name was taken from the government side.
