LHC Judge recuses from hearing Sharif's plea against Avenfield verdict

ISLAMABAD: Accountability court on Tuesday, without any proceedings, has adjourned hearing of Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investments references against Sharif family till July 30.
During the proceedings headed by Justice Mohammad Bashir, the notification pertaining to jail trial of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family was presented.
The judge told Sharif family’s lawyer Khawaja Harris that he had written a letter to Islamabad High Court (LHC) regarding transfer of cases against Sharifs to any other court.
He also asked Harris to comment about proceedings on the references upon which, the defence lawyer said that all the stakeholders should be taken into confidence.
The lawyer also advised the judge not to conduct proceedings on the references until Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) decision on his clients petitions.
Meanwhile, prosecutor of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) said that it was suitable that the judge who is hearing the cases from the very first day should continue with it.
