Hold rallies despite security threats: Imran Khan

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan claimed that he addressed the party’s election rallies in Karak and Bannu on Saturday despite receiving warnings about possible suicide attacks.
“We are going everywhere to deliver our message. They [authorities] had informed us in a written message that suicide attackers could target me in Karak and Bannu, but I risked my life since this election is a historic event for Pakistan,” he said.
Imran was speaking to the media in Karachi ahead of an election rally at Bagh-e-Jinnah.
Imran claimed that authorities in Karachi are barring PTI supporters from heading towards the rally venue. “I will request the Sindh IG to facilitate the public today, let them reach at the rally,” he said.
The PTI chief rejected some politicians’ claims about pre-poll rigging. “Those who broke records of rigging in previous elections are making a hue and cry today. They are guilty themselves.”
PTI candidate for PK-99 Dera Ismail Khan Ikram Khan Gandapur was killed and many others injured in a suicide attack today (Sunday).
Police said Gandapur was returning home after attending a corner meeting when a suicide bomber targeted his vehicle.
