ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Thursday ordered the electoral body to hold local body elections in federal capital within 120 days.

With the pronouncement of its verdict on Thursday, the court disposed of the all the intra-court appeals against relating to local body elections in Islamabad.

Earlier, Islamabad High Court had ordered to hold LB elections in the federal capital on December 31 last but the federal government had stated that it was not in a position hold local government elections in Islamabad in such a short period.

The verdict was pronounced by IHC Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, who was hearing identical petitions filed by the PTI and the Jamaat-i-Islami against the ECP’s decision announced earlier this week.
