ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has decided to replace the party’s top lawyer Hamid Khan for Panama Leaks case in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
According to reports, Imran Khan seems quite unsatisfied with the performance of party’s top lawyers representing the PTI in the Panamagate case in SC.
The PTI has decided to Hamid Khan, the party’s senior leader and eminent lawyer, with Babar Awan, a senior lawyer and a former aide of Asif Ali Zardari. But the final decision in this regard is likely to be taken after Imran Khan’s return from London.
The decision was taken at a meeting of party’s legal wing after the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing into the case and asked Hamid Khan to focus on documents submitted by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s children to corroborate their claims.
Some leaders of the PTI are said to have advised Imran Khan to seek replacement for Hamid Khan who they thought failed to effectively present the case. They also seemed unimpressed by the performance of Naeem Bukhari, another member of the PTI legal team who recently joined the party.
Many party leaders suggested that a lawyer with an aggressive style of presentation would suffice as the case has the political basis.
According to reports, Babar Awan would be considered as a main lawyer in the case, although the final decision will be taken after Imran Khan’s return from the UK.
