SEHWAN: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday said that after Nawaz Sharif it was now Asif Ali Zardari’s turn to face accountability.
The PTI chief was addressing a political gathering in Sehwan, Jamshoro.
As the political temperature is increasing due to the prevailing political uncertainty and upcoming 2018 general elections, PTI held a public convention in Sehwan. The convention was held on the same day when PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari addressed a political gathering in Peshawar.
Imran Khan lambasted Asif Ali Zardari, accusing him of doing corruption. Addressing the convention, Imran termed corruption as the most significant problem of the country.
He said Sindh was affected by corruption the most. “The province has been suffering from poverty due to corruption,” said Khan, adding that “Zardari and corruption have become synonyms”.
PTI chief was of the view that the country could not acquire prosperity without overcoming corruption.
“We can not get rid of poverty and joblessness without eliminating corruption,” he said, adding that the country suffers a loss of Rs12 billion every day due to corruption, whereas, annual corruption in Pakistan clocked in at Rs1,000 billion, he added.
Further criticising the PPP, he said people are being deceived for the last 21 years in the name of Roti, Kapra and Makan.
He demanded of the authorities to make public the report of the joint investigation team on notorious gangster Uzair Baloch. He claimed that Baloch had confessed he was capturing sugar mills to compel their owners to sell the mills to Asif Zardari. He also vowed to clean sweep Sindh in the 2018 general elections.
Presenting the example of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said KP has become the most peaceful province. He praised the Sindh police and vowed to upgrade the force on the pattern of KP. He claimed that poverty level in KP has decreased by 50 per cent.
