Indus Highway to be dualized by 2023, NA panel informed

ISLAMABAD: Indus Highway (N-55) will be completely dualized by 2023 and about 300 km portion of Indus highway will be converted into four lane from Dera Ghazi Khan toward Kotri.
This information was given to the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Communications. The Standing Committee was told that Kohat Tunnel was, for the first time, constructed by a Japanese company. Now it is again National Highway Authority (NHA) wants to get the second tunnel constructed by the Japanese company.
The Standing Committee was informed that Karachi Northern By-pass had been included in the PSDP of 2018-19 and the work on the project would be started in near future.
The committee was also briefed on the ongoing projects of the NHA in KPK including Chakdara-Chitral section of Nowshehra- Chitral Highway (N-45) and Chadara-Kalam Highway (N-95).
The meeting was presided over by the Chairman Standing Committee of National Assembly on Communications Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi and attended by Members National Assembly Muhammad Iqbal Shah, Sarzameen, Muhammad Riaz Malik, Maiza Hameed, Dr. Darshan, Nazir Ahmed Bughio, Salim Rehman, Engr. Hamid-ul-Haq Khalil, Sanjay Parwani, MolanaQamar-ud-Din, Ms. Naseema Hafeez Panezai and Engr.
