Khadija Shah sent to jail for identification parade

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court Wednesday sent Khadija Shah, the prime suspect in the attack on the corps commander’s house, to jail for an “identification parade” for seven days.
Shah had been kept waiting in a police van for over an hour before being presented before the ATC judge. Throughout the proceedings, her face remained covered with a black cloth.
When Shah was brought into the court, the police requested that she be sent to jail for the identification parade. The judge approved this request but also allowed her to meet her husband in the courtroom. The court instructed that she be presented again on May 30.
During her time in the police van prior to her court appearance, Shah complained about difficulty breathing due to the extreme heat. She informed a policeman that she had asthma. However, the official explained that the investigation officer was currently occupied in the high court and assured her that she would be taken inside the anti-terrorism court as soon as the IO arrived at the premises.
Khadija Shah comes from a notable background, being the daughter of former Punjab finance minister Salman Shah and the granddaughter of a former army chief. She had been evading arrest since the police conducted a raid at her residence but was ultimately apprehended the previous night.
