Khawaja Asif challenges his disqualification in Supreme Court

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court in its verdict on Thursday has disqualified Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif for life.
The verdict, which disqualified Khawaja Asif under Article 62 (1) (f), was announced by larger bench of IHC judge, Justice Athar Minallah.
Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani were also part of the larger bench of IHC which accepted a petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar seeking disqualification of Khawaja Asif for not mentioning his Iqama (work permit) in nomination papers.
The court also ordered to send an attested copy of the order to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to de-seat Khawaja Asif.
Let it be known that Khawaja Asif and Usman Dar had contested elections on the same constitution in May 2013 where the latter had lost the polls.
