KP Assembly Speaker call for immediate implementation of FATA reforms

PESHAWAR: The Speaker Khyber Pakhtukhwa Assembly Asad Qaiser Thursday called up the federal government to immediate implement FATA reforms and bring the tribal people into mainstream.
The federal government should implement FATA reforms without any delay to address sense of deprivation of tribal people besides giving them equal rights,” he said while talking to a delegation of tribal people from Mohmand Agency who called on him here at the Speaker Chamber.
He said the customs, traditions and way of life of people of FATA and KP are same and merger of FATA into to KP is inevitable, adding that undue delay in implementation of FATA reforms is creating uncertainty among tribal people.
The Speaker also emphasized upon the federal government to announce a special compensation package for infrastructure development in FATA besides payment of compensation to tribal people who suffered financial losses.
He said FATA reforms should be implemented in accordance with the aspirations of tribal people so that they could be benefited from it.
Earlier, the delegation expressed concerned over draconian FCR law and termed it a main hurdle in FATA development. They called for immediate abolition of the regulation so that the tribal people could get a sigh of relief.
They said that sacrifices of tribal people for stability and protection of the motherland are not hidden from anyone and they are always ready to render any sacrifice for the country.
