KP cabinet approves amendments in local government system

KP govt authorizes departments to release development funds for priority projects

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial cabinet on Thursday approved amendments to the province’s local government system.
The KP cabinet meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
According to the new local government system, tehsil councils and village councils will now be included in the local government.
Village council will comprise six to seven councilors and the village council’s head will be a member of the district council.
Apart from this, district chairmen will be given the responsibilities of health, education and police departments.
