KP governor interfering in interim govt, PTI complains to ECP

PESHAWAR: Provincial president of PTI Pervaiz Khattak has alleged that governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was interfering in the affairs of the interim government of the province.

In a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan, the PTI provincial chief said that the governor’s interfere in the affairs of the provincial government was unconstitutional and illegal, which has made the upcoming elections controversial.

Pervaiz Khattak said that under article 224 of the constitution, the governor was bound to organize elections within 90 days. He said that the governor has exceeded his constitutional powers. He said that the governor has to give only the date for elections. He said that in presence of the current governor, fair and transparent elections were impossible as he was influencing the interim government.

The PTI provincial chief said that the governor belonged to JUI-F while his son is the mayor of Peshawar. He urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to stop the governor from interfering in the affairs of the provincial government. He said that the governor has admitted his role in the formation of the caretaker cabinet.
