LHC orders IG Punjab to arrest Zainab’s killer(s) in 36 hours

Justice Mansoor for full court to hear petition against NAB amendments

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday directed Inspector General (IG) Pujab to arrest within 36 hours the culprit(s) involved in the rape and murder of seven-year-old girl Zainab.
During the hearing, Chief Justice (LHC) Mansoor Ali Shah ordered the authorities concerned to utilize the entire police force and capture the accused.
He also sought a report from the authorities comprising of all the rape cases in Punjab.
The Chief Justice also remarked that the incident was regrettable which made everyone angry and said that no negligence would be tolerated in this case.
Punjab IG who was summoned by the LHC on immediate basis also attended the hearing.
The seven-year old Zainab was kidnapped from Road Kot of Kasur and later, her dead body was found in a heap of garbage.
The girl was strangled to death after being raped.
The inhuman incident sparked protests across the country in general and Kasur in particular where the protesters stormed the offices of District Police Officer (DPO) and Deputy Commissioner (DC).
Two protesters were also killed when police opened fire to disperse the protesters.
