Machines shortage forces Lady Reading Hospital to stop cardiac surgeries

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s major hospital, Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) has halted heart operation after the health department failed to provide funds for repairing machines.
In a letter written by senior Lady Reading Hospital doctors to the hospital administration, the doctors have repeatedly requested for funds to repair the machines being used in heart surgery, however, no positive response has been received so far.
The hospital administration in reply to the doctors said keeping in mind the health of the patients, no surgeries will be conducted since the machines were not functioning.
Lady Reading Hospital spokesperson Asim Khan said, the reason they have stopped conducting operations is to ensure the safety of the patients.
He added, “We are looking at the machines and will provide the necessary machines as soon as possible.”
