KABUL: A standoff is underway between the Afghan forces and the assailant militants in the vicinity of the 5th police district of the city.
According to reports, a number of gunmen have launched a coordinated attack on a security compound close to Qambar Square.
Security sources are saying that a number of militants have taken position inside a building located close to the training center of the Afghan forces and are exchanging fire with the security forces.
Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai confirmed that the militants have taken position inside an under construction building and are exchanging fire with the security forces.
He said security forces have reached to the site and the area has been cordoned off as clearance operations are underway to eliminate the assailants.
