Moonis Elahi appears before NAB in offshore companies probe

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Moonis Elahi on Wednesday appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The PML-Q leader and son of former Punjab Chief Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi, remained at the NAB headquarters for around an hour.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned Moonis Elahi on Wednesday to record his statement for allegedly establishing offshore companies, mentioned in the Panama Papers.
According to NAB sources, Moonis Elahi has been summoned for the second time.Meanwhile, a NAB team Tuesday arrested owner of a housing society on charges of fraud by depriving hundreds of people of their plots. According to a NAB spokesman, the accused was identified as Sardar Zahid Shuja, owner of Shuja Town Housing Society. He was arrested from Sahiwal.Following the directions of NAB Chairman justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, NAB regional directors have started holding open hearings. This was the first action on the complaints submitted during open hearings, he added.
The spokesman said accused Zahid Shuja started selling out plots even without seeking proper approval from Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), Sahiwal. In 2011, the said society was sealed by TMA officials. Moreover, he said, not a single penny was returned to the affectees nor plots by the owner.
The NAB would produce Sardar Zahid Shuja before Accountability Court on Wednesday (today) to obtain his physical remand.
