KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court Tuesday remanded an alleged MQM’s hitman, Raees alias Mama into Karachi police custody for 20 days.
Mama, who was allegedly involved in target killings and extortion, was extradited to Karachi through Interpol a day earlier. The police claimed that the information provided by the accused led to the recovery of arms and ammunition from the Eidgah Ground.
The investigation office told the court Raees was involved in dozens of cases, although his arrest was made on charges of providing refuge to terrorists in MQM headquarters, Nine Zero.
The court granted the police Raees’ 20-day remand and asked for a progress report to be submitted in the next hearing.
