Nawaz asks NAB Chief to present proof of siphoning off money or resign

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, in his much awaited press conference, has demanded of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman to present proof of money laundering against him within 24 hours or resign.
Holding the presser in Punjab House here in Islamabad, he addressed the NAB Chairman to publically apologize before the nation and resign if he failed to provide proofs of siphoning off money to India against him.
“It has been proven how the head of an institution made my media trial a mission,” he said and added that severity of the allegations cannot be ignored.
Stating that NAB has “lost all its credibility” following “baseless allegations” against him, Nawaz said, “How did this column surface again after four months.”
The former premier alleged, “Conspiracies are being hatched to forge new cases against me and sentence me in them.”
“This is shameless pre-poll rigging,” Nawaz asserted.
Regarding the Panama Papers case, Nawaz said, “Panama Papers did not even mention my name. But all that unfolded afterwards is in front of everyone.”
“For the past nine months, a show has been put up and countless witness have been made to appear before the court,” he further said.
Nawaz further alleged, “People from my party [PML-N] are being told that they should leave or NAB will open cases against them.”
“There is a nexus,” he claimed once again referring to “outer beings”.
Claiming that he is being targeted, Nawaz said, “90 per cent of NAB’s cases are currently regarding us.”
“If there was any credible evidence against me then judgment would have been made in 10 days not nine months,” he upheld.
Nawaz Sharif alleged that leaders of PML-N are being threatened to join forces with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) or contest elections independently.
He said that there was a nexus for pressurizing PML-N leaders to join PTI and added that those who tend to be with us are threatened with NAB cases.
“They would have to reap what they are sowing today”, he added.
Nawaz Sharif while referring to his most frequently asked phrase “Khalai Makhlooq” (Aliens) has said that he and the people on ground will confront the aliens.
He added that the aliens exist in Pakistan for the past 70 years saying that “some people” are against every prime minister during the seven decades.
Regarding the cases he is facing, Nawaz Sharif said he would neither seek apology nor plead for mercy if sentenced.
Training his guns at political rival and PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif said that Imran Khan had said he would not join hands with Pakistan People’s Party; however, the PTI Chief voted PPP in Senate elections.
