Nawaz, Maryam to record statements in Avenfield reference today

Nawaz, Maryam likely to arrive in Pakistan Friday (today) evening

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law are expected to record today (Friday) their statements in the Avenfield reference against them.
The Avenfield reference is among three filed against Sharif family by the National Accountability Bureau last year on the Supreme Court’s directives.
On Thursday, the questionnaire comprising 127 questions related to the Avenfield property was handed over to the deposed PM and his family. The accused were directed to record their statements as per the questionnaire.
The Sharif family will appear before the court of accountability judge Muhammad Bashir.
At the last hearing on Wednesday, NAB prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi had pleaded the court to record the statement of Nawaz and his family in the Avenfield case.
After Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris and Abbasi completed their arguments on the request, the court reserved its verdict on the plea.
