SIALKOT: Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the government would work in collaboration with the private sector to exploit the true export potential of the country.
He was addressing a ceremony of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sialkot on Monday.
The Prime Minister said it was not for the government to do business but to play the role of facilitator in promotion of economic activities in the country.
The PM also emphasized the need for improving the tax to GDP ratio saying it was vital to provide incentives to the business community to address economic problems of the country.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the government was considering an integrated program to enhance the ratio of taxes and in this regard, the inputs of the business community would also be welcomed.
He said the government was also striving to cut the cost of industrial inputs by reducing the tariff of gas and electricity.
The PM expressed satisfaction over the economic growth saying it would have been far better had the instability would not have been stoked through the politics of sit-ins.
The Prime Minister said overall law and order situation stood improved as a result of firm action against the terrorists.
The PM added Karachi had once again been made cradle of peace and credit for this situation went to the political figures, the government and the security forces.
While addressing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) wrokers’ convention in a separate ceremony, the PM said passion of the nation was a guarantee for PML-N’s success in 2018 general elections.
He said that PML-N had always resorted to politics of the serving the nation adding that those who leave party for a few votes cannot succeed.
He maintained, “Nawaz Sharif is still our Prime Minister” and added that it was the government of Nawaz Sharif which restored peace in the country.
The PM said that no one had expected that the issue of energy crisis would be resolved; however, the conditions have improved.
Abbasi said that Pakistan had made progress in every sector and proudly said that PML-N had set a record of developmental works in the country.
