ISLAMABAD: Next round of talks between the US and Afghan Taliban are likely to be held in Islamabad.
According to reports, US special representative for reconciliation in Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad held meetings with Pakistani civil and military leadership during his visit to Islamabad. According to reports, Pakistan decided to invite Afghan Taliban to Islamabad for meeting with the US representative. The meeting would also be attended by officials of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Pakistan.
The Afghan Taliban had refused to attend peace talks in Saudi Arabia. The Taliban have also refused to meet Afghan government’s representative.
