No consensus at PM’s meeting with political leaders on FATA reforms

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Monday failed to develop consensus among leaders of different political parties over FATA reforms implementation strategy.
The prime minister chaired a meeting of the senior leaders of different political parties here, which was attended by Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Syed Khurshid Shah, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Akram Khan Durrani and others.
The prime minister briefed the government’s plan about implementation of the FATA reforms. According to reports, the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PKMAP chief Mehmood Achakzai opposed the government’s plan for implementation of the FATA reforms.
According to reports, the prime minister decided to convene another meeting of the political leaders on Thursday as the government wanted to take practical steps for implementation of the FATA reforms before May 31.
