NEW DEHLI: The Indian Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, on Tuesday said there was no reason to distrust Pakistan’s assurances that it will take action against those responsible for the Pathankot attack, reported Indian media.
“Pakistani government has said it will take effective action. I think we should wait,” said Singh as reported by Indian media.
The Indian home minister added that as Pakistan has given assurances of cooperation to the Indian government, there is no reason to distrust Pakistan so early.
Earlier, an alliance of Kashmiri militant groups had claimed the deadly attack on the Indian Air Force’s Pathankot airbase.
The United Jihad Council (UJC) had stated in a statement released that the attack was a message to India that Kashmiri fighters could strike at any sensitive installation across India.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had also assured his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi that Islamabad would not hesitate to take “prompt and decisive action” if the involvement of Pakistan-based elements in the attack on an Indian airbase was proved beyond doubt.– Agencies
