Opening fake accounts without bank officials involvement not possible: CJP

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa has said that without the involvement of bank officials, the opening of fake accounts is impossible.
The chief justice passed these remarks during hearing a plea of senior assistant bank Mohammad Anwar regarding opening of fake accounts. He said that transaction through fake accounts was a big crime. The CJP said that an account was opened with RS100,000 and somehow turned the amount into Rs900,000.
The defence counsel argued that his client had opened accounts in different branches of the same bank.
Three chief justice remarked that a three-year sentence was quite less in the case, adding that the bank account could not be opened without verification.
The court disposed off the case as the accused withdrew his application.
