According to the notification issued by the Cabinet Division, dates for various occasions have been outlined. However, holidays associated with Islamic events will depend on the sighting of the moon, and separate notifications will be issued closer to those dates.
Kashmir Day will be observed on February 5, 2025, followed by Pakistan Day on March 23. Eid-ul-Fitr is scheduled to be celebrated on March 30, 31, and April 1. Labour Day will fall on May 1, and Youm-e-Takbeer will be observed on May 28. Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on June 7, 8, and 9. Ashura will be observed on July 5 and 6. Optional holidays for minorities include festivals such as Holi, Dulhandi, Baisakhi, Easter, and Eid-e-Rizwan, among others. For government servants, optional holidays will be subject to prior approval from the head of the respective organization. Muslim employees may avail one optional holiday, while non-Muslims can avail up to three optional holidays in a calendar year.
The notification emphasized that granting such holidays should not disrupt work. Heads of organizations are instructed to ensure adequate staffing to maintain the continuity of services. Additionally, employees should not ordinarily be refused optional holidays that hold religious significance for them.
This schedule allows citizens to organize their personal and professional commitments effectively. By delineating both public and optional holidays, the government aims to cater to the diverse cultural and religious landscape of the nation while ensuring that essential services remain uninterrupted.
The notification reflects the government’s effort to balance work continuity with cultural and religious observances, fostering inclusivity and respect for all communities.
