ISLAMABAD: Pakistan handed over a list of four hundred and fifty seven Indian prisoners including fifty eight civilians and three hundred and ninety nine fishermen to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Foreign Office said the step has been taken in line with the provisions of the Consular Access Agreement between Pakistan and India, signed in May 2008.
Under the accord, both countries are required to exchange lists of prisoners in each other’s custody twice a year, on 1st of January and 1st of July.
Pakistan will release one hundred and forty six fishermen on Monday next.
The Indian Government will also hand over the list of Pakistani prisoners to Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
