Pakistan lodges protest with India

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent Indian unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Chirikot Sector which resulted in the martyrdom of one civilian.
The Indian acting Deputy High Commissioner was summoned to the foreign office in Islamabad on Wednesday and a strong protest was lodged with him on the ceasefire violation.
On the occasion, the Indian side was urged to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement and investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations, instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr. Muhmmad Faisal in a statement today said the Indian forces have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas along the Line of Control and the Working boundary.
He said the deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws.
The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation, he added.
