ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday summoned Indian High Commissioner to Foreign Office to lodge protest over unprovoked firing at Line of Control (LoC) by Indian Army wherein seven soldiers of Pakistan Army were martyred.
The FO Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said India must stop all ceasefire violations and avoid targeting residents along the LoC.
“We reserve the right to respond befittingly respond to Indian aggression,” he said.
The FO also delivered a letter of protest to India.
The Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry deplored the increasing Indian ceasefire violations at the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary, especially in the last two months, which was against the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding and the principles of international law, a Foreign Office statement said.
He emphasized that the belligerent attitude of Indian occupation forces was a serious threat to the regional peace and security, and might lead to a strategic miscalculation.
The foreign secretary asked the Indian High Commissioner to convey to his government that it must stop the provocative firing and observe the ceasefire.
Pakistan was pursuing a policy of restraint, which should not be construed as a sign of weakness, he added.
He underlined that the armed forces of Pakistan did not initiate fire, but would always respond in a befitting manner, if fired upon.
Pakistan strongly condemned the unprovoked firing, saying that India is continuously violating the ceasefire agreement at LoC. Pakistan has urged international community to take notice of continuous violation of ceasefire agreement and atrocities in occupied Kashmir.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria has also strongly condemned the continuous unprovoked firing at LoC and Working Boundary by Indian Army.
He said that Pakistan Army was responding in befitting manner. We salute our valiant soldiers who render ultimate sacrifices for national cause.”
