ABU DHABI: Pakistan lost five wickets in chase of 280 runs set by New Zealand to win the series-deciding third and final Test after the Black Caps declared their second innings at 353-7 on the fifth day in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
Pakistan have a minimum of 79 overs to reach the target.
Pakistan lost opener Muhammad Hafeez early on in the second innings after he went returned to the pavilion after just scoring eight runs in his final Test.
He was followed by Haris Sohail (9) and Asad Shafiq (0), both becoming New Zealand debutant William Somerville’s victim.
Azhar Ali was bowled out by Colin de Grandhomme for five runs and Imam-ul-Haq departed for 22 runs to leave Pakistan on 55-5 at lunch.– Agencies
