LAHORE: The steering committee of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) is likely to meet today for deciding the next course of action after its All Parties Conference (APC) deadline expired on Sunday.
The steering committee was formed during the APC convened by PAT, which had sought resignations from Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah over the Lahore’s Model Town incident.
PAT leader Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that opposition parties have agreed to attend the steering committee meeting scheduled for today.
He added that in the meeting, the opposition parties would decide the future course of action to be taken after the given deadline.
Gandapur said that he had contacted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahanghir Tareen, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) representative Manzoor Watto, Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid to attend the meeting.
Gandapur added that the opposition has waited too long for the resignations of the two and now it was time to take serious decisions.
On December 30, 2017 the PAT-led APC decided January 7 deadline for CM Shehbaz Sharif, provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and others responsible for the Model Town incident to resign.
