Peshawar, Karachi cruise into semi-finals of T20 Cup

RAWALPINDI: Peshawar Region cruised into the semi-finals of Cool and Cool Present Haier Mobile T20 Cup with a crushing seven-wicket win over Karachi Region Blues at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Left-arm seamer Imran Khan’s hat-trick and a superb display of batting by Israrullah helped Peshawar shake-off Karachi Blues shackles besides finishing at top on the points table.
Asked to bat first, Karachi Blues put a modest total of 156 for seven on the board in allotted 20 overs. Opener Khurram Manzoor, who hammered two consecutive half centuries in two previous matches, was dismissed cheaply in the third over.
Tournament’s leading scorers, Khalid Latif scored 40 off 34 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes. Imran Khan grabbed three important wickets – Fawad Alam (37 off 28), Sarfaraz Ahmed (23 off 18) and Anwar Ali (zero) to complete his hat-trick.
Peshawar chased the target in 18 overs by losing only three wickets. Israrullah struck fast 82 off 52 with the help of 13 fours. Mohammad Rizwan made 40 off 35 that included two fours and a six.
Fast bowler Anwar Ali got one wicket, while Rumman Raees, the leading wicket-taker of the tournament and Fawad Alam also claimed one wicket apiece. Both Imran Khan Israrullah were declared joint man-of-the-match for their match winning performance.
