Peshawar police recover kidnapped trader, kidnapper arrested

PESHAWAR: Local police have recovered two individuals, including a transport trader, who were abducted for Rs 100 million ransom.

On September 6, a person named Amanullah reported to the Sarband police station that unknown armed abductors, traveling in a motor vehicle, had forcibly abducted Syed Gul and Hakeem, also known as Sahil, at gunpoint. Subsequently, both abductees were held captive.

A ransom demand of Rs 100 million was made, and videos and images of the captives were being sent regularly through mobile phones.

Taking notice of the incident, CCPO Peshawar Syed Ashfaq Anwar and SSP Operations Aftab Ahmad constituted a special team under the supervision of SP Cantt Waqas Riaz. The team included DSP Bakhtiar Ahmad and SHO Sarband Kaleem Khan.

The team utilized modern scientific methods and intelligence coordination with the assistance of Khyber Police to successfully rescue both captives safely. The operation also led to the arrest of the mastermind behind the kidnapping, Jamshed, son of Minahwal, a resident of Kokikhel, district of Khyber.

During initial investigations, the suspect confessed to his crime and revealed the entire network involved in the kidnapping. A special team, led by SP Cantt, was formed to apprehend the network members.
