PHC dismisses petition against Peshawar BRT project

PHC constitutes special bench over arrest of KP doctors

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition against the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
A two judge-bench comprised of Justice Qaisar Rasheed and Justice Muhammad Ayub Khan was hearing the petition against the design of the Peshawar BRT project.
During hearing on the petition, counsel for the petitioner told the court that the under construction bridge at the Chamkani area of the city is not part of the BRT project. The counsel told the court that due to the construction work, all the roads have been closed causing difficulties for masses.
Additional Advocate General Sikandar Raza on behalf of the government informed the court that the Chamkani bridge has been made part of the BRT project. He maintained that the PHC has also declared design of the BRT project as legal.
Following hearing, the court dismissed the petition and concluded the case.
