PHC takes up elephant import case, seeks detailed report

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday issued notice to the federal government on a petition filed by Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Assad Qaiser against ‘not giving the province its due share’ in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
Speaker KP Assembly Assad Qaiser had moved the PHC against what he said not giving the province its due share by the federal government in the game changer CPEC project.
When the petition came up for hearing before a division bench of the high court comprising Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Ikramullah Khan, the petitioner took the peal that the centre was ignoring the province as far as CPEC projects are concerned.
After hearing the petitioner’s counsel preliminary arguments, the court issued notice to the federal government and sought reply from the Prime Minister and Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal within two week.
